ABOUT EVENT
Overcoming Barriers to Fair Housing helps real estate professionals interrupt stereotypical thinking so they can avoid fair housing pitfalls and provide equal professional service to every customer or client. Participants will examine the history of bias in real estate, learn about the mind science of identity, study how implicit bias can result in fair housing violations, and engage in interactive exercises to enhance communication skills and business relationships with clients of all backgrounds.

Dr. Danette O’Neal
LEED educator, HGTV alumna, entrepreneur, and trainer is the Broker/Owner of Danette O’Neal Realtors (DOR) with offices in the Greater New Orleans and Atlanta Metro areas. DOR specializes in residential and commercial sales, leasing, and property management. With more than 25 years in real estate, she regularly lends her expertise to nonprofit organizations expanding their missions, as well as to her own The Jericho Housing Corp. She holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration, a Masters in Public Administration both from Walden University and a M.A. in Community Economic Development from Southern New Hampshire University. She is a Professor and SME for Strayer, RealtorU, and Argosy Universities in the Schools of Business, Real Estate, and Public Administration. Dr. O’Neal is serving on the 2015-16 State and Local Issues, Research, and Public Policy Committees for the National Association of Realtors. Her research interests include water rights, environmental justice gender in the workplace, nonprofit management, asset retention in socioeconomically vulnerable populations, and the use of income maintenance programs as poverty reduction strategies.
